An oxacalix[2]arene[2]pyrimidine-bis(ZnII-porphyrin) conjugate was readily prepared via nucleophilic aromatic substitution of a phenolic AB3-Zn-porphyrin on the upper rim of a (1,3-alternate) 5,17-bis(methylsulfonyl)oxacalix[4]arene precursor. Efficient 1:1 complex formation between the ‘jaws’ bisporphyrin tweezer and fullerene C70 was evidenced by 1H NMR titrations (K = 3.0 × 104 M−1), while no detectable complexation could be observed with C60. On the other hand, an analogous oxacalix[4]arene-bis(Cu-corrole) conjugate did not show any measurable (C60 or C70) fullerene binding. 相似文献

Hydrogel formation triggered by a change in temperature is an attractive mechanism for in situ gelling biomaterials for pharmaceutical applications such as the delivery of therapeutic proteins. In this study, hydrogels were prepared from ABA triblock polymers having thermosensitive poly(N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide lactate) flanking A-blocks and hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) B-blocks. Polymers with fixed length A blocks (~22 kDA) but differing PEG-midblock lengths (2, 4 and 10 kDa) were synthesized and dissolved in water with dilute fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-labeled dextrans (70 and 500 kDA). Hydrogels encapsulating the dextrans were formed by raising the temperature. Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) studies showed that diffusion coefficients and mobile fractions of the dextran dyes decreased upon elevating temperatures above 25 °C. Confocal laser scanning microscopy and cryo-SEM demonstrated that hydrogel structure depended on PEG block length. Phase separation into polymer-rich and water-rich domains occurred to a larger extent for polymers with small PEG blocks compared to polymers with a larger PEG block. By changing the PEG block length and thereby the hydrogel structure, mobility of FITC-dextran could be tailored. At physiological pH the hydrogels degraded over time by ester hydrolysis, resulting in increased mobility of the encapsulated dye. Since diffusion can be controlled according to polymer design and concentration, plus temperature, these biocompatible hydrogels are attractive as potential in situ gelling biodegradable materials for macromolecular drug delivery. 相似文献

Experimental measurements to study the retention capacity and band broadening under retentive conditions using micromachined non-porous pillar array columns fabricated in cyclo olefin polymer are presented. In particular, three columns with different depths but with the same pillar structure have been fabricated via hot embossing and pressure-assisted thermal bonding. Separations of a mixture of four coumarins using varying mobile phase compositions have been monitored to study the relation between the retention factor and the ratio of organic solvent in the aqueous mobile phase. Moreover, the linear relation between the retention and the surface/volume ratio predicted in theory has been observed, achieving retention factors up to k=2.5. Under the same retentive conditions, minimal reduced plate height values of h(min)=0.4 have been obtained at retention factors of k=1.2. These experimental results are compared with the case of non-porous and porous silicon pillars. Similar results for the plate heights are achieved while retention factors are higher than the non-porous silicon column and considerably smaller than the porous pillar column, given the non-porous nature of the used cyclo olefin polymer. The feasibility of using this polymer column as an alternative to the pillar array silicon columns is corroborated. 相似文献

complex, particularly due to the requirement of numerous data preprocessing steps. Here, we evaluate how several of the most
common preprocessing procedures affect the subsequent univariate analyses of blood serum spectra, with a particular focus
on how the standard methods perform compared to more advanced examples. Carr–Purcell–Meiboom–Gill 1D 1H spectra were obtained for 240 serum samples from healthy subjects of the Asklepios study. We studied the impact of different
preprocessing steps—integral (standard method) and probabilistic quotient normalization; no, equidistant (standard), and adaptive-intelligent
binning; mean (standard) and maximum bin intensity data summation—on the resonance intensities of three different types of
metabolites: triglycerides, glucose, and creatinine. The effects were evaluated by correlating the differently preprocessed
NMR data with the independently measured metabolite concentrations. The analyses revealed that the standard methods performed
inferiorly and that a combination of probabilistic quotient normalization after adaptive-intelligent binning and maximum intensity
variable definition yielded the best overall results (triglycerides, R = 0.98; glucose, R = 0.76; creatinine, R = 0.70). Therefore, at least in the case of serum metabolomics, these or equivalent methods should be preferred above the
standard preprocessing methods, particularly for univariate analyses. Additional optimization of the normalization procedure

Starting from the conformationally unconstrained compound 3,5‐di‐(2‐bromophenoxy)‐4,4‐difluoro‐8‐(4‐methylphenyl)‐4‐bora‐3a,4a‐diaza‐s‐indacene ( 1 ), two BODIPY dyes ( 2 and 3 ) with increasingly rigid conformations were synthesized in outstanding total yields through palladium catalyzed intramolecular benzofuran formation. Restricted bond rotation of the phenoxy fragments leads to dyes 2 and 3 , which absorb and fluoresce more intensely at longer wavelengths relative to the unconstrained dye 1 . Reduction of the conformational flexibility in 2 and 3 leads to significantly higher fluorescence quantum yields compared to those of 1 . X‐ray diffraction analysis shows the progressively more extended planarity of the chromophore in line with the increasing conformational restriction in the series 1 → 2 → 3 , which explains the larger red shifts of the absorption and emission spectra. These conclusions are confirmed by quantum chemical calculations of the lowest electronic excitations in 1 , 1a , 2 , 2a , 3 and dyes of related chemical structures. The effect of the molecular structure on the visible absorption and fluorescence emission properties of 1 , 1a , 2 , 2a , 3 has been examined as a function of solvent by means of the new, generalized treatment of the solvent effect (J. Phys. Chem. B 2009 , 113, 5951–5960). Solvent polarizability is the primary factor responsible for the small solvent‐dependent shifts of the visible absorption and fluorescence emission bands of these dyes. 相似文献

We report on the possibility to perform HDC in micropillar array columns and the potential advantages of such a system. The HDC performance of a pillar array column with pillar diameter = 5 μm and an interpillar distance of 2.5 μm has been characterized using both a low MW tracer (FITC) and differently sized polystyrene bead samples (100, 200 and 500 nm). The reduced plate height curves that were obtained for the different investigated markers all overlapped very well, and attained a minimum value of about hmin = 0.3 (reduction based on the pillar diameter), corresponding to 1.6 μm in absolute value and giving good prospects for high efficiency separations. The obtained reduced retention time values were in fair agreement with that predicted by the Di Marzio and Guttman model for a flow between flat plates, using the minimal interpillar distance as characteristic interplate distance. 相似文献

An experimental study of a micromachined non-porous pillar array column performance under non-retentive conditions is presented. The same pillar structure has been fabricated in cyclo-olefin polymer (COP) chips with three different depths via hot embossing and pressure-assisted thermal bonding. The influence of the depth on the band broadening along with the already known contribution arising from the top and bottom cover plates has been studied. The experimental results exhibit reduced plate heights as low as 0.2, which are in agreement with the previous experimental work. Moreover, the constant values of the reduced Van Deemter expression are also in accordance with the previous studies. A more exhaustive study of the C-term band broadening is also presented, showing that comparing the space between the pillars with different open tubular rectangular channels offers a good estimation of the C-term band broadening that is obtained experimentally. These experimental results, hence, confirm that micromachined pillar array columns fabricated in COP can achieve the same performance as the ones fabricated in silicon for the presently studied pillar channel design. 相似文献

Single mode silicon photonic wire waveguides allow low-loss sharp micro-bends, which enables compact photonic devices and circuits. The circuit compactness is achieved at the cost of loss induced by micro-bends, which can seriously affect the device performance. The bend loss strongly depends on the bend radius, polarization, waveguide dimension and profile. In this paper, we present the effect of waveguide profile on the bend loss. We present waveguide profile improvement with optimized etch chemistry and the role of etch chemistry in adapting the etch profile of silicon is investigated. We experimentally demonstrate that by making the waveguide sidewalls vertical, the bend loss can be reduced up to 25% without affecting the propagation loss of the photonic wires. The bend loss of a 2 μm bend has been reduced from 0.039dB/90° bend to 0.028dB/90° bend by changing the sidewall angle from 81° to 90°, respectively. The propagation loss of 2.7 ± 0.1dB/cm and 3 ± 0.09dB/cm was observed for sloped and vertical photonic wires respectively was obtained. 相似文献

The biological response to four well-characterized amorphous silica nanoparticles was investigated in RAW 264.7 macrophages in view of their potential application as drug carriers to sites of inflammation. All silica nanoparticles-induced cell membrane damage, reduced metabolic activity, generated ROS and released various cytokines, but to different extents. Two silica nanoparticles of 34 nm (A and B) with different zetapotentials were more cytotoxic than (aggregated) 11 and 248 nm nanoparticles, while cytokines were mostly induced by the (aggregated) 11 nm and only one of the 34 nm nanoparticles (34A). The results indicate that specific silica nanoparticles may have counterproductive effects, for example when used as carriers of anti-inflammatory drugs. The physicochemical properties determining the response of nanoparticles vary for different responses, implying that a screening approach for the safe development of nanoparticles needs to consider the role of combinations of (dynamic) physicochemical properties and needs to include multiple toxicity endpoints. 相似文献
